megami_tensei
The overarching Megami Tensei franchise of Japanese RPGs primarily developed and published by Atlus. The franchise consists of a series of Mainline games and numerous spin-off games and series. The first games are based on the novel series Digital Devil Story.
Most games in the franchise, including some spinoff games/series, are standalone stories with recurring themes of philosophy, religion, occultism, and science fiction. The ability to recruit and use demon (megami tensei)s in combat is common in multiple series and games.
