Sega's flagship franchise, making its debut in 1991. Sonic games are chiefly high-speed platforming games where the titular hedgehog stops his nemesis, Dr. Eggman, from taking over the world. Created as Sega's rival to Mario of Nintendo, the series skyrocketed to popularity.
