american_le_mans_series
A now-defunct American car racing motorsports series, created in 1999 as a successor to the IMSA GT Championship. As the name implies, ALMS was designed to bring Le_Mans style racing to American and Canadian tracks, featuring endurance races with Le Mans prototypes and GT racecars.
The American Le Mans series had it's final season in 2013 after a merger with Grand-Am Road Racing, with the new IMSA SportsCar Championship taking it's place in 2014.
