bleeding_heart_(flower)
A common name for several genera of flowering plants in the poppy (flower) family (Papaveraceae), native to East Asia.
The bleeding heart plants produce arching flower-bearing stems with hanging flowers. The flowers have a distinctive shape, resembling a conventional heart, with narrow droplet-like petals beneath, hence the common name. Common flower colors are pink, purple-pink, red, and white. The leaves are lobed.
