Bending the wrist far backward, either by means of letting it fall backwards limply, or having it pressed up against something. The opposite of palmar flexion.

Usage examples

• "No thanks"; "I don’t want it" gesture.
• Rejection; "Go away" gesture.
• Indicating towards something. (Note that in Japan, pointing with one's finger may be considered rude, so using the whole hand is a polite/formal alternative).
• "Effeminate poses"; girly running, girly boy, etc.
• "Why?" gesture.
• "Rebellious", "bratty" body language; mesugaki and osugaki.
• "Give it to me" gesture.
• Beckoning; "come here".
• "Hand shrug" / "I don't know" gesture; confusion.
• Stretching poses (e.g post #4390381).
• Shading eyes.
