--Guile, Street Fighter II (series)

Guile (ガイル) is a video game character in Capcom's Street Fighter series of fighting games. Although his role in the Street Fighter story is minimal, he is considered the third leading male character in the series, after ]] and Ken,_largely_due_to_his_effectiveness_as_a_character_and_his_popularity.

When_Guile_was_a_Lieutenant_in_the_United_States_Air_Force,_he_befriended_his_superior_officer,_Charlie_and_asked_him_to_teach_him_in_his_unique_form_of_fighting,_which_Charlie_agreed_to_do._Guile_learned_the_style,_but_his_hot_temper_caused_him_to_be_not_as_proficient_in_the_moves_as_Charlie_was_(shown_in_how_Charlie_can_shoot_Sonic_Booms_with_just_one_hand_while_Guile_needs_both.)

Guile_has_a_wife,_ (ユリア), and daughter, (クリス, known as Amy internationally). Also, Julia and Eliza are actually sisters, making Ken and Guile brothers-in-law. However, this is not often discussed because, despite mutual respect as fighters, they do not think very highly of one another — Guile believes Ken to be a spoiled rich kid; Ken feels Guile is just another meathead soldier. In [[Street_Fighter_IV_(series)|, if Ken beats Guile, he'll refer to him as his "brother-in-law".

There's a running gag about his theme music from Street Fighter II "fitting in" or "going with" every scene or moment imaginable.

Also, a meme called Waiting Guile (待ちガイル) refers to the strategy wherein the player crouches in the corner waiting for the opponent to approach, only to then hit them with either one of his charge moves.

The inspiration for his character comes from JoJo's Rudolph von Stroheim.
