A roller-delayed West German 5.56×45mm NATO assault rifle introduced in 1981 and produced by Heckler & Koch. It was designed to replace the G3 and supersede the HK33. The weapon's most recognizable feature is magazine well that lacks distinct indentations, designed to accept STANAG magazines.
