Identifying Inklings (as opposed to Octolings)

Inklings have a few key traits that Octolings don't:

•• (the named Inklings, particularly the Idols, are nearly always depicted with them)

•• Inkling girls have some longer hairstyle options than Octoling girls

post #7190600 is a good comparison of these traits, with an Inkling on the left and an Octoling on the right

Typical tags common to both Inklings and Octolings include tentacle hair and thick eyebrows.

Note: Inklings do not usually have cephalopod eyes despite being based off Squid. Splatoon reserves those for Octolings, particularly the named Idol Octolings. post #4589127 is a very rare example of an Inkling drawn with cephalopod eyes
