Kenshiro (ケンシロウ), or just Ken as he is often called, is the central character of the Hokuto no Ken manga, anime, and other related works.

He is the 64th successor to the Hokuto Shinken art of combat, after his adopted father, Ryuken. He is considered "one of the greatest" successors in Hokuto Shinken history, due to his knowledge of certain legendary techniques like Musou Tensei. He is also known for his famous catchphrase: 「お前はもう死んでいる。」 ("Omae wa mou shindeiru." / "You are already dead.")

After the nuclear war, his fiancee Yuria was taken by Shin, who defeated Kenshiro and craving the infamous seven scars on his chest. Kenshiro along with two orphanted children who later joined his cause, Bat and Lin (hokuto no ken), started his journey to taking back his fiancee from Shin. This would leading to several chains of events involving him saving the innocents from various ruthless bandits factions for their survival, and that made Kenshiro being later called as "The Savior of century's end".

Known moves

• 五指烈弾 (Goshi Retsudan)

•• Causes the opponent's fingers to explode.

• 北斗百裂拳 (Hokuto Hyakuretsu Ken)

•• Kenshiro's trademark technique, in which Ken strikes the opponent's body with a relentless flurry of punches aimed at key pressure points, resulting in full body explosion. Usually delivered with Kenshiro's famous "ATATATATATATATATA" kiai.

• 二指真空把 (Nishi Shinkuu Ha)

•• An arrow shot towards the user is caught between two fingers and then deflected back towards the opponent.

• 岩山両斬波 (Ganzan Ryouzan Ha)

•• A hand chop which splits the opponent's skull in half.

• 北斗残悔拳 (Hokuto Zankai Ken)

•• A technique that causes the opponent to explode three seconds later so he can repent for his sins before he dies.

• 北斗飛衛拳 (Hokuto Hiei Ken)

•• A flying jump kick Kenshiro uses to defend himself against Shin's Nanto Gokuto Ken.

• 北斗龍撃虎 (Hokuto Ryuu Geki Ko)

•• Places the opponent in a temporary death-like coma. Ken's counterpart to Rei's Nanto Ko Ha Ryuu.

• 天破活殺 (Tenha Kassatsu)

•• A powerful aura blast which strikes the opponent's vital points in the shape of the Big Dipper.

• 北斗有情猛翔破 (Hokuto Ujou Moushou Ha)

•• An uppercut that causes opponents to die peacefully without any pain. Used as the finishing move to kill Souther.

• 無想転生 (Musou Tensei)

•• The ultimate secret technique of Hokuto Shinken. It makes the user untouchable to all incoming attacks.
••• Hakurei Reimu's strongest spellcard, 「夢想天生」 "Fantasy Heaven", is a homonym to this move and offers the same benefit of invulnerability.
