The NKVD (Russian: Наро́дный комиссариа́т вну́тренних дел, [People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs]) was the interior ministry of the Soviet_Union, established in 1917. The NKVD was originally tasked with conducting regular police work and overseeing the country's prisons and labor camps. They played a prominent role during World War II and executions during Stalinist era.
NKVD officers can be distinguishable from typical Soviet soldiers, through their two-tone red-blue peaked caps with black visor and blue pants. Females may wear blue skirts.
