Pacific Rim is a 2013 American anime-influenced science fiction and mecha monster film directed by Guillermo del Toro, written by del Toro and Travis Beacham, and starring Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Kikuchi Rinko, Charlie Day, Robert Kazinsky, Max Martini, and Ron Perlman.

The film is set in the 2020s, when humanity is under attack by "Kaijus", colossal monsters which have emerged from the Pacific Ocean. To combat the creatures, humanity unites to create the ]]s: gigantic humanoid mecha, each controlled by two or more pilots whose minds are joined by a neural bridge.

A sequel called [[Pacific Rim: Uprising was released worldwide in March 2018. An animated series titled Pacific Rim: The Black was released in 2021.

According to Mexican director Guillermo del Toro, the film was heavily influenced by the old Toho tokusatsu monster films like Godzilla as well as classic super robot anime shows like Tetsujin 28-Gou and Mazinger Z.
