Origin: 梅花易数 (rough English translation: Plum Blossoms are Easy to Count), a book based on mathematics in yili xue (義理學, "principle study") combined with "xiangshu xue (象數學, "image-number study"), being one of ancient Chinese divination methods. It's writer is unknown, but according to legend, it was written by Shao Yong, a Chinese cosmologist, historian, philosopher, and poet during the Song dynasty.
