railroad_signal
A device erected beside railroad tracks to convey information relating to the state of the line ahead to train drivers. May include semaphore signals as well as colored lights similar to traffic lights.
For lights, crossbucks and other signals directed at pedestrians or motorists, use railroad crossing.
