Weekly Shonen Jump manga series created by Takahashi Youichi in 1981. A soccer - based manga, it tells the story of Oozora Tsubasa on his journey to win FIFA World Cup for Japan. It is notable both for increasing popularity of soccer in Japan and inspiring other non-Japanese players such as World Cup winners Andres Iniesta, Lukas Podolski and Fernando Torres.
