In real life, Shikinami was part of DesDiv19 alongside her sister and her half-sisters _and_. She first saw action in the battle of the Sunda Strait where she fired the torpedo that sank . Later seeing action in the battle of Midway and Naval Guadalcanal, she rescued [[Shirayuki_(Kancolle)|'s survivors in the battle of the Bismarck Sea and spent the rest of her combat duty as a convoy escort, where she was sunk in one of these in September 1944.
