shosei
A student that performs housework in exchange for food and lodging. They are better known for their outfits, which consists of a dress shirt under a kimono with hakama, sometimes with a cap.
Commonly seen in Meiji and Taisho-Era images, alongside the military-style school boys outfits and girls in meiji_schoolgirl_uniforms.
