The daughter of Olga Gurlukovich, she was captured by the Patriots and used as a bargaining tool to ensure her assistance for ]] during the [[metal gear solid 2: sons of liberty|Big Shell Incident.
Sunny was later rescued by Raiden and put into the care of Solid Snake and Hal Emmerich. She has since been formally adopted by the latter.
