2023 ]] game, succeeding the New Super Mario Bros. series as the next traditional sidescroller in the franchise.
The first mainline sidescrolling Mario game (not counting [[Super Mario Run) since Super Mario Land 2 to feature Princess Daisy in any form, and first since Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island to feature Yoshi as a playable character. Introduced brand-new power-ups, including the Wonder Flower and the Elephant Fruit that turns those that pick it up into anthro elephants (象).
