tu-22
First Soviet supersonic bomber. Originally intended to replace the Tu-16, it was powered by twin turbojets mounted at the base of the vertical fin and a disappointment due to shorter range, mechanical unreliability, and hard to use controls. Despite the similar designation, it is completely unrelated to the Tu-22M which replaced it and the Tu-16 in the bombing and maritime strike roles.
