world_sportscar_championship
A now-defunct motorsport series sanctioned by the FIA that ran from 1953 to 1992. The series was based around endurance racing, primarily featuring prototype-class (including the iconic Group C) and GT sports cars as the racecars. The WSC featured a number of iconic endurance races during it's run with most years including the 24_Hours_of_Le_Mans, the 24_Hours_at_Daytona, and the 12_Hours_of_Sebring.
The World Endurance Championship was founded in 2012 as a modern revival of the WSC.
