mochi
A type of wagashi - a Japanese rice cake made of glutinous rice pounded into paste and molded into shape. It is a traditional food for the Japanese New Year and is commonly sold and eaten during that time.

Porridge

- >> pon de ring | Mixed between a donut and mochi. Also just known as mochi doughnut.
- >> sakura mochi | Mochi in the color of a cherry blossom (sakura).
- >> yakimochi | Grilled or broiled mochi.
- >> kirimochi | Rectangular mochi.
Daifuku
- >> daifuku | Mochi with a sweet filling, usually a red bean paste.
- >> ichigo daifuku | Mochi with a strawberry inside.
- >> mame daifuku | Adzuki beans or soybeans are mixed into the mochi or the filling.
- >> mikan daifuku | Mochi with a mandarin orange inside (top part of the image).
- >> yukimi daifuku | Ice cream mochi.
