Sonic the Hedgehog (ソニック★ザ★ヘッジホッグ, Sonikku za Hejjihoggu) or Sonic the Hedgehog: The Movie, is a two-episode OVA based on the Sonic_the_Hedgehog franchise. Produced by Pierrot, directed by Kazunori Ikegami and written by Masashi Kubota, the OVA was originally released in Japan in 1996, with its two thirty-minute episodes over two separate VHS tapes.
The two episodes were titled "Welcome to Eggmanland" (エッグマンランドへむかえ, Eggumanrando e Mukae) and "Sonic vs. Metal Sonic!!" (ソニックＶＳメタル・ソニック！！, Sonikku tai Metaru Sonikku!!).
The anime features Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Dr. Eggman (Dr. Robotnik in the English release), Metal Sonic and a few supporting characters created exclusively for the OVA. It also featured an ending theme "Look-a-like", with music score composed by Mitsuhiro Tada, who also did the arrangement for "Look-a-like".
